Trumpets are not only used for appearance, as one might assume. They are primarily used to influence the length of the intake chamber. This extends not only between the valve seat and the carburettor, but also to the upper edge of the trumpet. Consequently, the shape and length of the trumpets have a positive effect on the flow rate and engine characteristics.
In addition, the length must match the timing of the camshaft used. In principle, a long trumpet guarantees higher torque at a lower nominal speed, while a short one is ideal for high-revving engines and guarantees better performance at higher rpm.
